My adventure to the Envision Music & Yoga Festival in Costa Rica with Rich Van Every, Andrea Brook, and the Earth Harp was an exciting transformational journey!
Rich and I met Andrea when filming the stunning Earth Harp installation at Temple of Transition at Burning Man last year. Needless to say we became instant friends and huge fans. When our friend Sofiah Thom invited Andrea to bring the Earth Harp to the Envision Festival we jumped teamed up to assist her with the project and document the experience. In early March the three of us set out on an adventure to the jungle with the Earth Harp in a surfboard bag and tons of camera gear. I was swept onto the fast track of learning Earth Harp production, installation, tuning, sound healing theories, and more. It was an honor to assist her with this project and to witness the gratitude overflowing from participants.
The Earth Harp, invented by William Close, transforms architecture and natural environments into a large-scale musical instrument. Considered the world’s largest stringed instrument, it is truly stunning visually and musically. Andrea, a gifted yoga instructor and performer, specializes in evolving the Earth Harp experience into the unique realm of transformational entertainment.
At Envision Andrea offered Earth Harp and yoga experiences, musical collaborations with progressive DJ David Block and friends, sunset ritual, and musical performance. 
Earth Harp yoga integrates the sciences of sound and movement for an unparallel somatic transformation. Andrea elegantly guides people throughan energetic transformation starting with the root and rising thru the crown; moving with focus and intention integrating movement and tones specific to each energy center. As poses are held the Earth Harp’s healing harmonics and longitudinal vibrations send sonic waves of the worlds largest stringed instrument thru the body.
According to the theory of sound healing, the sound waves travel thru the air into the inner ear. The vibration of the sound waves strike the eardrum causing the three middle bones to vibrate and stimulate the auditory nerve. This mechanical energy is transformed into electrical energy signals perceived by the brain. The brain then releases neurotransmitters and hormones into the blood stream affecting cells and organs. It is thought that there is a direct correlation between ascending overtones and the tranmutation of lower vibrations of disease into higher vibrations of health and wellbeing.
Personally, my whole being was vibrating, deeply connected to an inner journey when I was on stage up close and personal with Andrea and the resonating chamber of the Earth Harp demonstrating poses. Surprised when Andrea invited me to lead an opening mantra meditation accompanied by the Earth Harp I felt carried by the vibrations of the harp. I felt fully supported as I guided the class thru mantras and movement honoring the five flows of energy with deep tones of the Earth Harp guiding the song.
This weekend of sublime experience set the space for a transformation by bringing participants into synch with an inner experience of wellbeing and creativity that they have not known before.
